The Good

Out of the two airports in Chicago, Midway is by far the easiest to get in and out of, and the easiest to navigate. Security lines tend to move quickly, and the airport's cleanliness is notable. Just because Midway is O'Hare's little brother doesn't mean it's not a serious hub, either. There are a ton of flights that come through here, so in the event that your flight is delayed or cancelled, it's likely you can easily find another option.

The Not-so-Good

A huge negative for many travelers is that you have to pay in order to connect to the airport's Wi-Fi. An unfortunate trend is the decline of the available dining options. It seems that there are more fast-food options than anything else at Midway these days, and it doesn't seem that this trend will be reversing anytime soon. Seating near the gates is hard to come by, so it's likely you'll find yourself standing while waiting to board your flight. It probably goes without seating given the seating shortage, but power outlets are hard to come by,

Neat Things to See and Do

Courtesy of the City of Chicago's renowned Public Art Program, there are dozens beautiful paintings, sculptures, and murals on display throughout the airport. These exhibits are in both pre-security and post-security areas. If you're in need a bread from the hustle and bustle of the airport, consider a tranquil respite at the Yoga Room, located in Concourse C. The Yoga Room is adjacent to the Mother's Room, a private area for nursing mothers who would prefer to breastfeed their babies in a private setting.

Fun Facts and History

When people think of flying into Chicago, O'Hare is usually the first airport that comes to mind. Midway might be the smaller of the two Chicago airports, but it's the oldest, having been constructed in 1927. Midway is the primary hub for Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, who controls 34 of the airport's 43 gates. The most popular destination from Midway is Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The busiest international destination from Midway is Toronto's Bishop City Airport. The airport is named after the Battle of Midway, which occurred during World War II.
